Pregnancy

A View from

The Word of God

by

Diane Rodd

Our western culture, the medical profession, family traditions, old wives' tales and modern media all have much to say about a woman's pregnancy. May the perfect peace of God rule and reign supreme, whether these scriptures are used for natural or spiritual conception, gestation, labor and birth.

Pregnancy

A View from

The Word of God

The following are scriptures the Lord has given me to meditate upon during this natural pregnancy, but they are also applicable to spiritual birth. CONCEPTION

  1. But women shall be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint. I Timothy 2:15
  2. And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words, and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:26-28
  3. And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Hebrews 11:6
  4. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man, and God is faithful who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it. I Corinthians 10:13
  5. Blessed shall be the offspring of your body and the produce of your ground and the offspring of your beasts, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock. And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the offspring of your body. Deuteronomy 28:4,11
  6. There shall be no one miscarrying or barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days. Exodus 23:26

Notes BE IT DONE TO ME ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD

  1. Let God be found true, though every man be found a liar. Romans 3:4.
  2. Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain, `Move from here to there,' and it shall move, and nothing shall be impossible to you. Matthew 17:20
  3. `O woman, your faith is great; be it done for you as you wish.' And her daughter was healed at once. Matthew 15:28
  4. `Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with any one in Israel. Go your way; let it be done to you as you have believed.' And the servant was healed at that very hour. Matthew 8:10,13
  5. `Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well.' And at once the woman was made well. Matthew 9:22
  6. `Do you believe that I am able to do this?' `Yes, Lord.' `Be it done to you according to your faith.' And their eyes were opened. Matthew 9:28-30
  7. Truly I say to you, if you have faith, and do not doubt, you shall not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it shall happen. And everything you ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive. Matthew 21:21,22
  8. Behold, children are a gift of the Lord; the fruit of the womb is a reward. Psalm 127:3
  9. Thou art my hiding place; Thou dost preserve me from trouble; Thou dost surround me with songs of deliverance. Psalm 32:7

LABOR.

  1. Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she gave birth to a boy. Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons. `Shall I bring to the point of birth, and not give delivery?' says the Lord. `Or shall I who gives delivery shut the womb?' says your God. Be joyful with Jerusalem and rejoice for her, all you who love her; be exceedingly glad with her, all you who mourn over her, that you may nurse and be satisfied with her comforting breasts, that you may suck and be delighted with her bountiful bososm. For thus says the Lord, `Behold, I extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the nations like an overflowing stream; and you shall be nursed, you shaIl be carried on the hip and fondled on the knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem. Isaiah 66:7-13
  2. And it came about that while they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. Luke 2:6
  3. Whenever a woman is in travail, she has sorrow because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she remembers her anquish no more, for joy that a child has been born into the world. John 16:21
  4. Panic (trembling) seized them there, anguish, as of a woman in childbirth. Psalm 48:6
  5. Our hands hang limp. Anguish has seized us, pain as of a woman in childbirth. Jeremiah 6:24
  6. For I heard a cry as of a woman in labor, the anguish as of one giving birth to her first child, the cry of the daughter of Zion gasping for breath, Stretching out her hands, {saying,} "Ah, woe is me, for I faint before murderers. Jeremiah 4:31
  7. Will not pangs take hold of you, like a woman in chilbirth? Jeremiah 13:21
  8. How you will groan when pangs come upon you, pain like a woman in childbirth. Jeremiah 22:23
  9. Panic has gripped her; distress and pangs have taken hold of her like a woman in childbirth. Jeremiah 49:24
  10. His hands hang limp; distress has gripped him, agony like a woman in childbirth. Jeremiah 50:43
  11. Why do you cry out loudy? Agony has gripped you like a woman in childbirth? Micah 4:10
  12. The whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. Romans 8:22
  13. Women shall be preserved (saved) through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint. I Timothy 2:15
  14. The pains of childbirth come upon him; he is not a wise son, for it is not the time that he should delay at the opening of the womb. I will ransom them from the power of Sheol; I will redeem then from death. Hosea 13:13,14
  15. They will come and will declare His righteousness to a people who will be born, that He has performed it. Psalm 22:31
  16. That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born, that they may arise and tell them to their children, that they should put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments. Psalm 78:6,76

BIRTH

  1. A time to give birth, Ecclesiastes 3:2
  2. When you are helping the Hebrew women to give birth and see them upon the birthstool...the Hebrew women are not as the Egyptian women; for they are vigorous, and they give birth before the midwives can get to them. Exodus 1:16,19
  3. Phinehas' wife was pregnant and about to give birth; she kneeled down and gave birth, for her pains came upon her. I Samuel 4:19
  4. His hands on his loins, as a woman in childbirth. Jeremiah 29:6
  5. Rachel wanted Bildah to bear Jacob's child on her knees that it would be considered her child. Genesis 30:3
  6. Job lamented his birth asking, "Why did the knees receive me." Job 3:12

FATHER'S ROLE IN BIRTH

CHILD

  1. For Thou didst form my inward parts; thou didst weave me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Thy thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with Thee. Psalm 139:13-18
  2. Yet Thou art He who didst bring me forth from the womb; Thou didst make me trust when upon my mother's breast; upon Thee I was cast from birth; Thou has been my God from my mother's womb. Psalm 22:9,10
  3. For Thou art my hope; O Lord God, Thou art my confidence from my youth. By Thee I have been sustained from my birth; Thou art He who took me from my mother's womb; my praise is continually of Thee. Psalm 71:5,6
  4. And the child continued to grow, and to become strong in spirit, and he lived in the deserts until the day of his public appearance in Israel. Luke 1:80
  5. And the Child continued to grow and become strong, increasing in wisdom; and the grace of God was upon Him. Luke 2:40
  6. And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

Deuteronomy 7:15 "AND THE LORD WILL REMOVE FROM YOU ALL SICKNESS; AND HE WILL NOT PUT ON YOU ANY OF THE HARMFUL DISEASES OF EGYPT WHICH YOU HAVE KNOWN, BUT HE WILL LAY THEM ON ALL WHO HATE YOU."

BEHOLD, THE BONDSLAVE(S) OF THE LORD; BE IT DONE TO (US) ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD. Luke 1:38

The birth of our Lord Jesus Christ was the most significant birth in all of human history. His mother had no midwife to help; his earthly step-father had no hospital to rely upon; Jesus had no clean bed to lie upon and here in one of the greatest moments in history, it was only the parents and the child who shared the moment. May meditation upon this event bring you righteousness, peace, and joy in the kingdom of our Lord through the power and strength of the blessed Holy Spirit as you prepare for the birth of your natural child or spiritual child.
