The Parable of the Basketball Games
01/02/19

On December 4, 2018 in Melbourne, Victoria, AUS while watching my first highschool basketball championship round robin pools to see who would make it to the top 4 of the #1 championship team of 2018, I was impressed to keep believing light overcomes darkness. My grandson's team, Brisbane Adventist College, lost their first game.

2:40am on December 5 I awoke and wrote this outline

The Basketball Game of Eternal Life

  1. THE GAME begins in eternity because God prepared the game the Team of Light is to play before time began.

For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10)

  2. Conception starts the time clock for each individual human being, not just those who share their own revelation about this in the Old and New Testament.

    David

For Thou didst form my inward parts; Thou didst weave me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to Thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Thy works, and my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from Thee, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth. Thine eyes have seen my unformed substance; and in Thy book they were all written, the days that were ordained for me, when as yet there was not one of them. How precious also are Thy thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with Thee. (Psalms 139:13-18)

    Jeremiah

The words of Jeremiah, the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who were in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin, to whom the word of the Lord came in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign. It came also in the days of Jehoiakim, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the end of the eleventh year of Zedekiah, the son of Josiah, king of Judah, until the exile of Jerusalem in the fifth month (Jeremiah 1:1-3).

Now the word of the Lord came to me saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:4-5)

    Paul

But when He who had set me apart, even from my mother's womb, and called me through His grace, was pleased to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood, (Galatians 1:15-16).

  3. The Basketball Game of Eternal Life is a battle in a war that has already been won.

"I, even I, am the Lord; and there is no Savior besides Me. It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, and there was no strange god among you; so you are My witnesses," declares the Lord, "And I am God. Even from eternity I am He; and there is none who can deliver out of My hand; I act and who can reverse it?" (Isaiah 43:11-13)

"But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity" (Micah 5:2).

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith. (I John 5:4-4)

The Victor over the spirit of death is eternally greater.

'O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?' but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord (I Corinthians 15:57-58).

  4. Miscarriage before gestation and birth is not a defeat in the Basketball Game of Eternal Life because every human spirit returns to the Father of spirits. The game is over and LIFE wins.

Remember Him before the silver cord is broken and the golden bowl is crushed, the pitcher by the well is shattered and the wheel at the cistern is crushed; then the dust will return to the earth as it was, and the spirit will return to God who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:6-7).

Furthermore, we had earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live? (Hebrews 12:9).

  5. However, if conception moves beyond gestation and birth onto earth occurs, the clock of time keeps running. The battle for the human spirit, soul, and body to be ruled by the Holy Spirit begins.

  6. The Victor of Life has won every battle, knows every strategy and every play the enemy will use to score points to look as though the powers of darkness are winning the game.

  7. When the Basketball Game of Eternal Life begins, every human being that is born on the earth is given a gift by the Triune God. It is the Ball of Faith

    Romans 12:3
    3. For through the grace given to me I say to every man among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith.

The enemy will try to steal the Ball of Faith by using lies and deception to keep the Ball of Faith from swishing through the net of Father's good, acceptable, perfect will.

  8. In the Basketball Game of Life the team of darkness that opposes Father's will can never win. The team of darkness may deceive human beings to follow his game plan of lies, so that he can steal the Ball of Faith. He tries to delay Father's will to destroy the attitude of hope and expectation of victory in the Team of Light. He works his evil strategy with the ball of unbelief and doubt to quench the peace and joy of those on the eternally winning Team of Light, but the team of darkness can never overcome the Team of Light.

    John 10:10
    10. "The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have {it} abundantly."

  9. Even when the team of darkness convinces a member of the Team of Light that it is winning the Basketball Game of Eternal Life, the Captain of the Team of Light always has the perfect play to bring the Ball of Faith back into His team's hands. Darkness can never win.

  10. Every individual human being on earth belongs on Father's Team of Light, and when the clock runs out of time and the horn blasts and the sound of earth fades away, the scoreboard will always reveal the team of darkness didn't have enough points to win the final game against the Team of Light.

  11. The Winner is always God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit and even though the team of darkness may have secret strategies and the devil's deceptive game plan, the Lord of Life always has the last shout: "They Are All Mine! My Team of Light always wins the Basketball Game of Eternal Life, and the home team always walks off earth into the eternal with Me, the Creator, their Redeemer."

  12. The team of darkness never wins the final game against the Team of Light because the love of God is stronger than death, and every member of the human race wins the game even if only by one point. Satan always loses the Basketball Game of Eternal Life because death cannot separate Father's Team of Light from His love.

Brisbane Adventist College won the Gold Medal, the Championship for 2018 in their school division."

Romans 8:32
32. He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things?
33. Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies;
34. who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
35. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36. Just as it is written, "For Thy sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered."
37. But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.
38. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
39. nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
