The Way Out

of Anger

(Third in a series on anger)

by
Earl & Diane Rodd

This pamphlet is the continuation of earlier pamphlets entitled, "Dealing with Anger" and "Conquering Anger". Home educating families have a special challenge in dealing with anger because family members interact so much with other. We can't ignore it as each family member goes his separate way each day. However, in God's sight, home educating families have a unqiue opportunity to witness to the power of the Gospel to deliver us from anger. This pamphlet is a practical guide to prayer which we trust will be "The Way Out of Anger" for readers.

The Way Out of Anger

Ephesians 3:14
14. For this reason, I bow my knees before the Father,
15. from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name,
16. that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man;
17. so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; {and} that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18. may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19. and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God.
20. Now to Him who is able to do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,
21. to Him {be} the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

  1. Write down on a piece of paper the worst problem you have in homeschooling.
  2. Now repeat aloud: My God shall supply all my needs according to Christ Jesus. He will do beyond what I can ask or think according to the power that works within me. I rely upon His solution to my problem for His ways are perfect. He is my Creator, and He knows exactly how to fix my problem. I wait for His solution, and while I am waiting, I will bring every thought of doubt and unbelief that is contrary to the word of God captive to the obedience of my Lord Jesus Christ. I rely upon the Holy Spirit to be my helper, my guide, my teacher, my comforter and my source of all truth. He will reveal to me every lie and show me the way of escape out of the temptation to be discouraged, disheartened or disappointed. I trust in God not in myself. I rely on His power, not my strength and abilities. I rely on Him to overcome my weaknesses or inadequacies. I believe His word not satan's lies. I repent of all my sin concerning this problem, and I rejoice in the blood of Jesus that cleanses me from all this sin. I am holy and free to obey God each day in the power and joy of the Holy Spirit.
  3. The following scriptures remind me that I am not the problem, nor is my child the problem. My major problem is the enemy who wants to steal, kill and destroy everything that Jesus wants to do in my life.

    John 10:10
    10. "The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have {it} abundantly.

  4. :vslrnp 10 Ephesians 6:10.
    11. Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might.
    12. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
    13. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual {forces} of wickedness in the heavenly {places.}
    14. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm
    15. Stand firm therefore, \having girded your loins with truth,\ and \having put on the breastplate of righteousness\,
    16. and having shod \your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace\;
    17. in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming missiles of the evil {one.}
    18. And take \the helmet of salvation,\ and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
    19. With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
    20. and {pray} on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel,
    21. for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in {proclaiming} it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

  5. I will be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His power. God Himself girds me with His strength and He will make my way blameless.

    Psalms 18:31
    31. For who is God, but the \Lord\? And who is a rock, except our God,
    32. The God who girds me with strength, And makes my way blameless?

    I Thessalonians 5:23
    23. Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    24. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.

  6. I will put on the full armor of God so that I will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.

    James 4:5
    5. Or do you think that the Scripture speaks to no purpose: "He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us"?
    6. But He gives a greater grace. Therefore {it} says, "\God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.\"
    7. Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

  7. My struggle is not against myself or my child. It is against rulers, powers, world forces of darkness, and spiritual forces of wickedness that reside in the heavenly places around us. We can't see them, but they are the real enemies in our lives.
  8. :vslrnp 30 Psalms 18:30.
    8. As for God, His way is blameless; The word of the \Lord\ is tried; He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
    9. For who is God, but the \Lord\? And who is a rock, except our God,
    10. The God who girds me with strength, And makes my way blameless?
    11. He makes my feet like hinds' {feet}, And sets me upon my high places.
    12. He trains my hands for battle, So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
    13. Thou hast also given me the shield of Thy salvation, And Thy right hand upholds me; And Thy gentleness makes me great.
    14. Thou dost enlarge my steps under me, And my feet have not slipped.
    15. I pursued my enemies and overtook them, And I did not turn back until they were consumed.
    16. I shattered them, so that they were not able to rise; They fell under my feet.
    17. For Thou hast girded me with strength for battle; Thou hast subdued under me those who rose up against me.
    18. Thou hast also made my enemies turn their backs to me, And I destroyed those who hated me.
    19. They cried for help, but there was none to save, {Even} to the \Lord\, but He did not answer them.

  9. I will be able to resist these enemies and I will be able to stand firm if I use the full armor that God has provided for me and if I will allow Him to train my hands for the battle. Jesus has won the victory. It is my job to stand firm, submit to God and resist the enemy and see him flee my situation (James 4:6-7).
  10. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from a spirit of error; release me from listening to Satan's lies. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, the spirit of truth. Show me how to gird my loins with your truth.

    I John 5:7
    7. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth.

  11. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from guilt, shame, and condemnation. Fill me with your righteousness. Show me how to keep my heart protected by your breastplate of righteousness.

    Psalms 18:16
    16. He sent from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.
    17. He delivered me from my strong enemy, And from those who hated me, for they were too mighty for me.
    18. They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the \Lord\ was my stay.
    19. He brought me forth also into a broad place; He rescued me, because He delighted in me.

    Romans 8:1
    1. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
    2. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.

  12. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from strife, contention, disputes and anger that bind my feet and cause me to stumble. Fill me with your peace. Show me how to keep my feet totally prepared in the gospel of Your peace.

    Psalms 18:25
    25. With the kind Thou dost show Thyself kind; With the blameless Thou dost show Thyself blameless;
    26. With the pure Thou dost show Thyself pure; And with the crooked Thou dost show Thyself astute.
    27. For Thou dost save an afflicted people; But haughty eyes Thou dost abase.
    28. For Thou dost light my lamp; The \Lord\ my God illumines my darkness.

    Romans 16:17
    17. Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them.
    18. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting.
    19. For the report of your obedience has reached to all; therefore I am rejoicing over you, but I want you to be wise in what is good, and innocent in what is evil.
    20. And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.

    Isaiah 26:5
    5. "For He has brought low those who dwell on high, the unassailable city; He lays it low, He lays it low to the ground, He casts it to the dust.
    6. "The foot will trample it, The feet of the afflicted, the steps of the helpless."

  13. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from doubt and unbelief. Fill me up with Your faith. Show me how to use my shield of faith so that every lie that satan throws at me will be extinguished and find no resting place in me to cause damage.

    I John 5:2
    2. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.
    3. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.
    4. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith.
    5. And who is the one who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

  14. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from the fear of judgment. Fill my thoughts with the wonders and realities of the salvation you have purchased for me. Show me how to keep my helmet of salvation always protecting my mind.

    I John 4:18
    18. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves punishment, and the one who fears is not perfected in love.

    Revelation 22:14
    14. Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city.

    Isaiah 26:1
    1. In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: #"We have a strong city; He sets up walls and ramparts for security.
    2. "Open the gates, that the righteous nation may enter, The one that remains faithful.
    3. "The steadfast of mind Thou wilt keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in Thee.
    4. "Trust in the \Lord\ forever, For in \God\ the \Lord,\ {we have} an everlasting Rock.

    Jeremiah 17:5
    5. Thus says the \Lord\, #"Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind And makes flesh his strength, And whose heart turns away from the \Lord.\
    6. "For he will be like a bush in the desert And will not see when prosperity comes, But will live in stony wastes in the wilderness, A land of salt without inhabitant.
    7. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the \Lord\ And whose trust is the \Lord.\
    8. "For he will be like a tree planted by the water, That extends its roots by a stream And will not fear when the heat comes; But its leaves will be green, And it will not be anxious in a year of drought Nor cease to yield fruit.

    Isaiah 26:11
    11. O \Lord\, Thy hand is lifted up {yet} they do not see it. They see {Thy} zeal for the people and are put to shame; Indeed, fire will devour Thine enemies.
    12. \Lord\, Thou wilt establish peace for us, Since Thou hast also performed for us all our works.
    13. O \Lord\ our God, other masters besides Thee have ruled us; {But} through Thee alone we confess Thy name.

  15. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from my will. Show me how to be led by your Spirit at all times so that I do not seek to do my own will.

    Luke 22:39
    39. And He came out and proceeded as was His custom to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples also followed Him.
    40. And when He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."
    41. And He withdrew from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and {began} to pray,
    42. saying, "Father, if Thou art willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Thine be done."
    43. Now an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.
    44. And being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground.
    45. And when He rose from prayer, He came to the disciples and found them sleeping from sorrow,
    46. and said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation."

    Matthew 26:36
    36. Then Jesus *came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and *said to His disciples, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
    37. And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be grieved and distressed.
    38. Then He *said to them, "My soul is deeply grieved, to the point of death; remain here and keep watch with Me."
    39. And He went a little beyond {them,} and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as Thou wilt."
    40. And He *came to the disciples and *found them sleeping, and *said to Peter, "So, you {men} could not keep watch with Me for one hour?
    41. "Keep watching and praying, that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak."
    42. He went away again a second time and prayed, saying, "My Father, if this cannot pass away unless I drink it, Thy will be done."
    43. And again He came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.
    44. And He left them again, and went away and prayed a third time, saying the same thing once more.

    Fill me with your Holy Spirit that I might truly overcome.

    Romans 8:26
    26. And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for {us} with groanings too deep for words;
    27. and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to {the will of} God.
    28. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to {His} purpose.

    Lord, let me pray with the intensity of the Holy Spirit for the will of God to be accomplished in me and through my life on earth. Lord, give me the desire to seek You earnestly until Your will becomes my will in every area of my life.

    Hebrews 12:1
    1. Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
    2. fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
    3. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you may not grow weary and lose heart.
    4. You have not yet resisted to the point of shedding blood in your striving against sin;
    5. and you have forgotten the exhortation which is addressed to you as sons, #"\My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord\, \Nor faint when you are reproved by Him\;
    6. \For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines\, \And He scourges every son whom He receives.\ "#

    Show me how to use Your written word as my sword to cut down every lie and deception that the enemy tries to use against me and my loved ones. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Apart from You I can do nothing.

  16. Lord, I come and ask you to set me free from my own words in prayer. Show me how to pray at all times in the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, alert in perseverance and petitions so that every thought and word that proceeds out of my mouth boldly proclaims the truth of the gospel. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit that I may intercede correctly for the saints and for my family, friends, neighbors, etc.

    James 5:16
    16. Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
    17. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain; and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
    18. And he prayed again, and the sky poured rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
    19. My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth, and one turns him back,
    20. let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death, and will cover a multitude of sins.

  17. :vslrnp 12 I Corinthians 10:12.
    21. Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.
    22. No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it.

  18. I refuse to think I am standing by the strength of my own power. I believe that God will show me the way of escape out of my temptation that He may be glorified and the principalities and powers will bow their knees to Jesus in my situation.

    Hebrews 2:17
    17. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
    18. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted.

    Hebrews 4:14
    14. Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
    15. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as {we are, yet} without sin.
    16. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

    I rely totally in Jesus' atoning work on the cross and the power of His resurrection life. I know that it is Christ in me and not anything else that accomplishes eternal fruit.

  19. :vslrnp 22 Matthew 5:22.
    17. "But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever shall say to his brother, 'Raca,' shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever shall say, 'You fool,' shall be guilty {enough to go} into the fiery hell.

  20. :vslrnp 25 Ephesians 4:25.
    18. Therefore, laying aside falsehood, \speak truth, each one\ {of you,} \with his neighbor,\ for we are members of one another.
    19. \Be angry, and\ {yet} \do not sin;\ do not let the sun go down on your anger,
    20. and do not give the devil an opportunity.
    21. Let him who steals steal no longer; but rather let him labor, performing with his own hands what is good, in order that he may have {something} to share with him who has need.
    22. Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such {a word} as is good for edification according to the need {of the moment,} that it may give grace to those who hear.
    23. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
    24. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.
    25. And be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

    :vslrnp 1 Ephesians 5:1.
    26. Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children;
    27. and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

  21. I must continually imitate God and walk in love by being kind at all times, forgiving immediately every time I am tempted to hold onto my anger against anyone. I must forgive immediately to turn away from evil. I will refuse to give the devil any opportunity in my situation if I consciously seek to walk in the same forgiveness that God has towards me. I will allow the Holy Spirit to control my thoughts and my words so that every word that proceeds from my mouth will give grace and help to those who need to be encouraged, strengthened, and enabled to overcome the snares that the enemy tries to put in our way.
  22. :vslrnp 15 Ephesians 5:15.
    28. Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men, but as wise,
    29. making the most of your time, because the days are evil.
    30. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
    31. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
    32. speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
    33. always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
    34. and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

  23. I must understand the will of the Lord in every situation I have to face or I will act foolishly. I must make a conscious effort to have a very thankful heart in every situation I face, and I will know if I have a thankful heart because songs of praise will always be on my lips. I will have scripture in my mind and in my mouth if I am seeking the will of the Lord.
  24. I must make a conscious decision to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit. I must not do or think anything that will quench the Holy Spirit who lives within me.
  25. :vslrnp 8 James 4:8.
    35. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

  26. I must learn to draw near to God, so that I can cleanse my hands of all sin. I must allow the Holy Spirit to get rid of all doubt and unbelief in my heart so that my heart is pure before Him.
  27. :vslrnp 12 Hebrews 3:12.
    36. Take care, brethren, lest there should be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart, in falling away from the living God.

  28. I must repent of unbelief.
  29. :vslrnp 18 Hebrews 3:18.
    37. And to whom did He swear that they should not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient?
    38. And {so} we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief.

  30. I must realize that only unbelief can keep me from experiencing the reality of God's promises written in His Holy Word. When I experience a promise of God in my own life or in the lives of others, I enter a place of rest. God's Word has been proved true once again.
  31. :vslrnp 1 Hebrews 4:1.
    39. Therefore, let us fear lest, while a promise remains of entering His rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.
    40. For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.

  32. I must realize that just knowing God's word, but not experiencing it, is a deception of satan to keep the Word of God from bearing good fruit in my life or in the life of my loves ones.
  33. :vslrnp 11 Hebrews 4:11.
    41. Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall through {following} the same example of disobedience.
    42. For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
    43. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

  34. I must be willing to allow areas of my life that don't match God's word to be changed by the Holy Spirit into God's desires for me.
  35. :vslrnp 14 Hebrews 4:14.
    44. Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.
    45. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as {we are, yet} without sin.
    46. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

  36. I must repent of all unbelief in my heart for it is evil. If I fail to remove all doubt and unbelief from my heart, I will not enter the rest and peace that Jesus' blood sacrifice has purchased for me. I must know what the word of God says about me and about my children so that I can think the same thoughts as God thinks about me and my children. I will allow the word that I read and hear to be mingled with faith and trust in the Lord who said those words, and I will allow the Holy Spirit to use that word to teach me the difference between my spirit and my soul so that my thoughts and intentions can be judged according to God's standards and not my own. I will be free to draw near to God's throne of grace with confidence to find the mercy and grace to help me in my time of need and temptation. I will be victorious through Christ.
  37. I must repent of all impatience in my soul. If I fail to walk in patience, and in longsuffering, I am quenching the Holy Spirit who lives within me and wishes to conform me to the image of Jesus Christ. When Jesus walked on the earth, He was tempted in every sin that satan had used or would ever use against human beings. There is no temptation that comes to me that Jesus hasn't already faced and overcome.
  38. No matter how ugly, sinful or degrading my temptation may be, Jesus, my High Priest, has been tempted in the same way, but He never gave in to the temptation. Thus if I come to Him boldly in faith, believing in the power of His resurrection that now resides in me, refusing all doubt and unbelief, He will show me how to receive His grace and His mercy from His throne of grace, and He will deliver me from My temptation by showing me the way out of it. Because Jesus rendered satan powerless, Jesus through the Holy Spirit in me can show me how to escape satan's evil temptation and plan for my immediate situation.

    Romans 8:11
    11. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.
    12. So then, brethren, we are under obligation, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh--
    13. for if you are living according to the flesh, you must die; but if by the Spirit you are putting to death the deeds of the body, you will live.
    14. For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
    15. For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, "Abba! Father!"
    16. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
    17. and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with {Him} in order that we may also be glorified with {Him.}
    18. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

  39. No man can reveal these things to me because all human beings are just like me. Jesus is the only one who can personally show me what I need to do to overcome every temptation to be impatient, angry, frustrated, bitter, resentful, unforgiving, argumentative, defensive, selfish, striving, hateful, prideful, jealous, envious, etc. These are all satan's characteristics and are part of his deceitful, illegal kingdom.
  40. God did not design human beings to live under satan's domain of lies and accusations. That is why a human being who gives into satan's lies and deceptions is such a miserable, stressful person. Human beings have been created in God's image. We have been designed to be full of love, full of joy, full of peace. We have been created to be patient and kind; to be full of God's goodness; to be full of His faith; to be full of God's mercy. We have been designed to be gentle; to be controlled by the Holy Spirit. Only our Creator and Designer can show us how we can function correctly by submitting to Him totally.

    II Corinthians 2:14
    14. But thanks be to God, who always leads us in His triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place.
    15. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing;

    Isaiah 55:2
    2. "Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And delight yourself in abundance.
    3. "Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; And I will make an everlasting covenant with you, {According to} the faithful mercies shown to David.
    4. "Behold, I have made him a witness to the peoples, A leader and commander for the peoples.
    5. "Behold, you will call a nation you do not know, And a nation which knows you not will run to you, Because of the \Lord\ your God, even the Holy One of Israel; For He has glorified you."
    6. Seek the \Lord\ while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.
    7. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the \Lord\, And He will have compassion on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.
    8. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Neither are your ways My ways," declares the \Lord\.
    9. "For {as} the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
    10. "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, And do not return there without watering the earth, And making it bear and sprout, And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
    11. So shall My word be which goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding {in the matter} for which I sent it.
    12. "For you will go out with joy, And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap {their} hands.
    13. "Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up; And instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up; And it will be a memorial to the \Lord\, For an everlasting sign which will not be cut off." #

    Isaiah 56:1
    1. Thus says the \Lord\, #"Preserve justice, and do righteousness, For My salvation is about to come And My righteousness to be revealed.
